Man says he’s not guilty of cop kick

A Ruther­glen man pleaded not guilty to nine charges, in­clud­ing po­lice as­sault, when he ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court last week.

Grant Mor­ri­son faces four charges of as­sault on Au­gust 22, 2015, in­clud­ing bit­ing, kick­ing and scratch­ing four po­lice con­sta­bles.

He is also charged with re­sist­ing, ob­struct­ing or hin­der­ing po­lice of­fi­cers in the line of duty dur­ing the same in­ci­dent at a prop­erty on East Main Street, Ruther­glen.

A sixth charge ac­cuses Mor­ri­son of be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing or abu­sive man­ner.

He is fur­ther charged with com­mit­ting a breach of the peace on Main Street, Ruther­glen, by shout­ing, swear­ing and con­duct­ing him­self in a dis­or­derly man­ner.

A fi­nal charge ac­cuses Mor­ri­son, 36, of fail­ing, with­out rea­son­able ex­cuse, to ap­pear at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on Jan­uary 18.

He will stand trial on Septem­ber 19.
