BB company appeal for new members

-

A Cambuslang Boy’s Brigade company are appealing for new members.

The 217th Gilbertfield have seen a dramatic drop in membership of their junior section over the past few years.

They are also looking for adult volunteers to help out.

The company started as the 217 Glasgow in October 1924 and have been based at Flemington Hallside since.

Junior section officer Glenn Jamieson said: “We are a Christian organisation but we take boys from all backgrounds.

“Our nights mainly consist of games and meeting people.

“We have the serious stuff like marching, which teaches discipline, but it’s mainly sports and games.”

The 217th Anchor Boys start on Monday, September 5 from 6.15-7.15pm for boys aged five to primary three.

Junior section starts on Tuesday, September 6, 7.309pm or boys primary four to six.

And the company section meets on Fridays from September 8, 7.15- 10pm for boys in primary seven and up.

Officers can be contacted by email on gilbertfield217@ gmail. com, on Facebook and also at the church on meeting nights.
