Plenty on sale at car boot

Peo­ple mak­ing way for new clothes and house­hold items be­fore Christ­mas are be­ing in­vited to earn a buck and raise cash for lo­cal schools.

Res­i­dents of Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang are be­ing en­cour­aged to sell their un­wanted items at a car boot sale at Cathkin High School on Satur­day.

Or­gan­ised by the school’s par­ent teacher coun­cil, the com­mu­nity event will run from 10am to 1pm and in­clude a mini fair.

It will raise money for Cathkin High School, Ruther­glen High School and Cathkin Com­mu­nity Nurs­ery.

Be­sides the out­door car boot sale, there will be a café for re­fresh­ments and var­i­ous stalls in­side the school in­clud­ing a home bak­ing stall, as well as fun ac­tiv­i­ties for all the fam­ily.

Ch­eryl Bur­nett, of Cathkin Par­ent Teacher Coun­cil, said:“This fundrais­ing event will en­able the par­ent coun­cil to raise much-needed funds to sup­port events, pur­chase sports and arts equip­ment and other ad­di­tional ex­tra items for the use of school pupils.

“For ex­am­ple, pupils will be rais­ing funds for the newly -es­tab­lished Duke of Ed­in­burgh Cen­tre at the school.

“This cen­tre is a unique col­lab­o­ra­tive venture set up by the par­ent coun­cil and the school.”
