And she reck­ons the im­pact of global warm­ing can be seen in the news right now: “Hur­ri­cane Matthew is hit­ting Haiti.

“These events are get­ting worse and all the ev­i­dence sug­gests this is be­cause the oceans are get­ting warmer be­cause the world is too de­pen­dant on fos­sil fu­els.

“I had al­ways sup­ported SCIAF and when I ap­proached them it be­came clear to me the one thing I could help with is cli­mate change.

“It is the poor­est peo­ple in the world who are most af­fected by this al­though they are not the ones who have caused it.”
