Shoppers cop this New York police car!

Rutherglen Reformer - - Green FIngers -

The New York City Police Department is famous the world over, but this squad may have found themselves a little lost.

Shoppers at the Morrisons store in Cambuslang were left stunned to spot a NYCPD cop car pulling into the car park.

The full-scale replica would not have looked out of place in Fifth Avenue, at least it would have 20 years ago.

The car appears to be a Chevrolet Caprice, which was the stock vehicle for the force during the 1990s.

Shopper Jackie McKenna spotted the vehicle on Sunday, September 25.

She admitted to the Reformer she was stunned when she noticed it.

She said:“I’ve no idea whose car it was, they were driving away when I took the picture.

“I didn’t know what to think, I was very surprised when I saw it.

“I’m a wee bit obsessed with New York - I’ve been three times - so it really made my day.”

Jackie posted the picture on the All About Cambuslang Facebook page, and many residents made light of the vehicle.

One said:“His satnav got a wee bit confused.”

Another wrote:“Maybe Police Scotland are struggling more than we thought.”
