Rutherglen Reformer - - Autumn Homes & Gardens - Douglas Dickie

Council tenants in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are being given the chance to comment on rent rises that will come into affect next year.

A series of meetings have been organised throughout November to make sure as many people as possible have their say.

On Tuesday, November 1, a meeting will be held in Rutherglen Town Hall at 2pm.

Then, on Wednesday, November 2, a meeting will be held at the Cadoc Suite in Cambuslang Gate, also at 2pm.

The focus of the meetings will be to discuss and consider the options for setting the level of rent increase for 2017/18.

Councillor Alex McInnes, chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s housing and t e c h n i c a l res o u rc e s committee, said: “This is a hugely important issue, given the current economic situation, and the pressures on tenants and the council through the UK Government’s welfare reform changes.

“I would urge any South Lanarkshire Council tenant who would like to find out about our housing budget or to give their views on the options for the rent increase to attend any of the events.”

Other meetings will be held in Blantyre, Lanark, East Kilbride, Hamilton and Larkhall.

Residents who would like further information or are unable to attend any of the events can contact Aileen Muir on 01698 454121 or email aileen. muir@ southlanarkshire.gov.uk
