Delays expected during M74 work
Motorists in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are being warned to expect“significant delays” on the M 74 next month.
Transport Scotland are warning drivers ahead of the road being closed in both directions between junction four Maryville and junction five Raith between 8pm on Friday, November 18 and 6am on Monday, November 21.
The closure is part of the M 8 M 73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project and relates to the demolition of Bothwellpark Road Bridge.
Rail users are also being warned to expect busier services on the Argyle Line through Rutherglen and Cambuslang.
Graeme Reid, Transport Scotland project manager forth eM 8 M 73 M 74 Motorway Improvements Project, said: “This is the most significant road closure we have implemented as part of the works and we are anticipating major delays on all approaches, the surrounding roads and the main diversion route.
“We are advising road users to plan their journey, avoid the area and surrounding local roads, and if possible, to use alternative modes of transport for the weekend.”
