Hayman play set for Feb at town hall

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

Scottish actor David Hayman will bring his new play to Rutherglen Town Hall on Friday, February 10.

The Cause of Thunder follows on from the Pitiless Storm, which was performed at the town hall in 2014.

This picks up that story two years on, as Bob Cunningham walks home from the pub and believes he sees a man ascending into the sky.

It prompts him to think through a few things on his mind - whether or not to take early retirement; politics, of course, and what to do about the No vote, Brexit, Corbyn, the refugee crisis, that weird thing about rising into the heavens and not forgetting the letter from Ethel, his ex.

All these thoughts leave Bob trying to decide what to do about retirement and the onset of old age, and whether his life’s work is done. Is he finished? Can he come to terms with his, and his country’s, past, and future?

The show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are £13.50 or £12 for concessions. They can be bought from the Town Hall in person, ordered by calling 0141 613 5700 or booked online at www.sllcboxoffice.co.uk
