Mo­torists in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang had been tak­ing heed of po­lice warn­ings on drink driv­ing over the fes­tive sea­son, as there had been no ma­jor in­ci­dents of drink driv­ing re­ported in the G72 and G73 postal ar­eas over Christ­mas.

Po­lice ap­pealed for in­for­ma­tion af­ter two men were bru­tally at­tacked and stabbed in Ruther­glen two days be­fore Christ­mas.

A new plan to help the health of res­i­dents in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang was launched, tar­get­ing men­tal health.

A Burn­side doc­tor had an ex­tra rea­son to cel­e­brate over Christ­mas af­ter be­ing ap­pointed pres­i­dent of the royal col­lege of physi­cians and sur­geons Glas­gow.
