Duo face gift theft charges
A man and woman will stand trial for the alleged theft of Christmas presents from cars in Cambuslang last month.
John Mills, 56, and Jade Bruen, 27, denied the charges when they appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, January 9.
They were ordered to return for trial on May 26.
Mills, of Langcroft Drive in Cambuslang, and Bruen, of Kirkconnel Drive in Rutherglen, were also charged with possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.
The pair have been charged with thefts from six vehicles on December 11 and 12.
It is alleged they broke into three cars on Bruce Avenue, two cars on Wallace Wynd and one vehicle on Scalloway Road.
Among the items stolen were hair straighteners, CDs, clothes, makeup bags, a bracelet and a yoga mat as well as a “quantity of Christmas presents”.
Most of the items have been recovered.
It is also alleged the pair were found with 5.3 grams of heroin at Mills’ home.
Both were released on bail. Mills had a curfew imposed on him by the court and will not be able to leave his home between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
They are due back in court on April 27 for an intermediate diet ahead of their trial.
