Some peo­ple are com­plain­ing that the new LED light­ing is leav­ing their drive­way in dark­ness.

I can sym­pa­thise with them, but, in truth, don’t con­sider that this is the coun­cil’s re­spon­si­bil­ity.

How­ever the pave­ments are,and they are left too dark to see the var­i­ous pot­holes, dropped and dou­ble kerbs, un­less you are right un­der a lamp­post.

As an el­derly per­son who had to go out on foot at night, I found the whole ex­pe­ri­ence very scary as I sim­ply could not see where my feet were land­ing.

I do ap­prove of the ethos of cost sav­ing pro­vided by the new light­ing, but feel that some­one needs to leave the com­fort of their desk to ac­tu­ally see how it works for pedes­tri­ans as well as driv­ers.
