Thug caused mayhem on roads

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

A mindless van driver who ended up on top of a roundabout after causing mayhem on roads in East Kilbride and Glasgow will learn his fate later this month.

Gordon Laughlin, 38, of Ross Place, Rutherglen, drove erratically and at excessive speed causing other vehicles to cross onto opposing carriageways.

In the face of obvious danger, he repeatedly overtook vehicles causing them to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

Laughlin then collided with an oncoming motor and crashed into a trailer being towed by a car which was stationary at the time of impact.

Failing to maintain proper control of his vehicle, Laughlin then failed to negotiate a roundabout and drove over the top of it.

He collided with the barrier and road traffic signs causing damage to both.

The offences took place on Stewartfield Way, the A726 and elsewhere in Glasgow on June 3, last year.

Laughlin admitted to a charge of dangerous driving.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, sentence was deferred on Laughlin until January 27. Bail was continued.
