Road claim is just wrong
I refer to the article in last week’s Reformer (January 18) regarding a further delay in the completion of the Cathkin Relief Road.
Whilst I’m not surprised by this announcement, I find it quite astonishing that the head of roads and transportation has stated: “The project is progressing well and is under budget by approximately £3 million.”
Firstly the project cannot be progressing well, if what was programmed to take seven months, is taking at least 11 months.
Secondly if a project programme is extended by almost 50 per cent and is being reported to be £3 million (14 per cent) under budget, then some serious questions have to be asked about the original budget and how well the City Deal money has been spent. Alan McLennan Burnside House Beech Avenue
