Duncan back in fold with Scotland
Cambuslang man Duncan Weir has been named in the 37-man Scotland squad for the RBS Six Nations.
The 25-year-old Edinburgh player will be part of coach Vern Cotter’s side for the upcoming matches starting against Ireland at BT Murrayfield on February 4.
Duncan, who is returning to the Scotland set-up after missing the November series, will be fighting it out for a place in the starting 15 with former Glasgow teammate Finn Russell for the standoff jersey.
Coach Cotter, said: “It’s a well balanced and exciting group who have played a lot of rugby together, know each other well and are ambitious to do well in a Scotland jersey.
“I think if we get our mind set right we can be competitive and push for wins in every game in this campaign.”
He added: “When you look down the list of names from Greig Laidlaw as captain, you see a solid loocking group that’s been together for a while.
“Duncan Weir returns alongside Finn [ Russell] who’ll be working to run games, with settled back three options available to us once again.”
