Rutherglen Reformer - - Election Special -

Cambuslang has been hit by successive blows with the closure of all its bank branches and the threatened closure of the local Jobcentre. This has not helped local businesses. The town centre needs specific focus to address the issues to ensure that footfall improves.

We are already working closely with Cambuslang Community Council to support the recommendations from its recent survey looking at the regeneration of the town centre. Our priorities would be:

● To regenerate Cambuslang town centre and protect the environment.

● To improve parking and car emissions issues in Cambuslang Main Street.

● To value and support community groups and organisations.

● To actively support our local schools to close the attainment gap.

An SNP-run SLC would empower communities by devolving 1 per cent of budget for local priorities and projects, to be decided at ward level. That equates to approximately £1m over five years for Cambuslang West.
