Volunteers for befriending
Rutherglen and Cambuslang residents are being asked to lend a listening ear to local people in need.
The local branch of Chest Heart Stroke Scotland (CHSS) is looking for volunteers to join its befriending service which offers telephone contact to people living with illnesses such as COPD.
People with such lung problems can often find it difficult to get out of the house, resulting in feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Sharon Moncrieff, CHSS respiratory coordinator said:“Our new respiratory service in Lanarkshire helps patients by offering telephone befriending.
“All that’s required for this rewarding role is a willingness to help others and access to a telephone. At CHSS we are very flexible with volunteers’ time and we appreciate how busy life can get.”
Interested volunteers can call Sharon on 07834 350 463 or email: sharon. firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
