Rutherglen Reformer - - Motoring Guide -

It’s that time of year again – yes, it’s the start of the bowls season in Rutherglen and Cambuslang.

President James McGall and wife Margaret were visited by South Lanarkshire depute provost Pam Clearie at the Cambuslang opening afternoon at Westcoats Road.

Their ladies opening day was also set to take place yesterday, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Halfway and District Bowling Club will celebrate the start of the new season on Saturday at 2pm. Presidents Jim Stoddart and Lillian O’Neil will welcome members, visitors and distinguished guests in what is always a busy but enjoyable day at the club.

The ladies opening game will take place on Good Friday, April 14.

The first competition will be on Saturday, April 22, at 1pm when Ladies Day, sponsored by Drumasagard 2001s, will take place. The sheet for this and all May competitions will be on the noticeboards in the bowls house this Saturday.

Fixture diaries will be available for members to collect on Saturday as long as fees have been paid. The club would also like to remind bowlers it is only £80 for new members.

Knockout ties will be drawn at the end of April so there is still plenty of time to join and enter competitions.
