A Burn­side man who was Scot­land’s Mr Big in laun­der­ing drug money was jailed for 12 years and nine months af­ter be­com­ing the first crim­i­nal in Scot­land to be nailed by po­lice us­ing elec­tronic bug­ging equip­ment.

Kind-hearted Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang lo­cals were be­ing warned to be on their guard af­ter a pri­vate com­pany was knock­ing on doors and claim­ing to be a char­ity.

The pres­i­dent of Cam­bus­lang rugby club slammed new park­ing re­stric­tions out­side the club that was stop­ping peo­ple park­ing out­side the club at week­ends.

Half­way res­i­dents said they were suf­fer­ing due to the drink­ing cul­ture of young­sters in the area.

The Re­former’s pop­u­lar former as­trologer Le­an­dra passed away aged 67 af­ter suf­fer­ing from a long term ill­ness.
