Help out rail project

Rutherglen Reformer - - Election Special -

Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust is looking for volunteers to get involved in a new project based around locals railways.

The Rail 74 Community Rail Partnership covers the line between Rutherglen and Hamilton, including the Cambuslang and Newton stations.

Community rail is the support of railway lines and stations by local organisations.

A post on the Healthy n Happy Facebook page this week read: “Do you have some spare time? Are you looking for a new project? About to retire with not enough to do? Want to expand your friends network?

“The Rail 74 Community Rail Partnership are looking to recruit some more volunteers from the communities along the line from Rutherglen to Hamilton Central, including Cambuslang, Newton, Blantyre and Hamilton West.

“We want to help the communities linked by the railway, working with local organisations to generate potential local benefits through community- led projects, by means of the community rail partnership.

“We need communityminded people who wish to get involved as everyone has a skill that they can use; community activists, maintenance, gardening, admin, art skills, the list is endless.”
