Voters’ chance to quiz
Voters in Cambuslang West will get the chance to quiz their council candidates on the future of the Main Street next week.
Cambuslang Community Council has organised a hustings event at the Cambuslang Institute on Monday, April 24.
Topics will include the town centre, jobs, lack of facilities, crime and the environment.
There are eight candidates standing in Cambuslang West.
David Thomson, chair of Cambuslang Community Council, said: “The local government elections are really important for Cambuslang.
“We know from our community and business surveys that local people feel the town centre has been neglected and is in danger of declining further.
“At the same time, housing developments like Gilber tf i e l d a re being approved against local opposition, with inadequate consideration of issues such as the impact of traffic and the demand for health services, and a lack of investment in the community.
“We have organised the question time for the community to hear how the candidates for the Cambuslang West ward will respond to these and other important local concerns.
“We are looking forward to an interesting evening, and encourage as many local people to attend and put questions to the candidates.”
The event starts at 7pm.
