Bud­dies grate­ful for grand cheque

A group for peo­ple aged 14 and over with ad­di­tional sup­port needs is cel­e­brat­ing af­ter be­ing pre­sented with a cheque for £1200.

Cam­glen Bud­dies is based in the Harry Heaney Cen­tre in Spit­tal.

They have run arts and crafts, karaoke, Wii and other ac­tiv­i­ties for the past two years as well as out­ings to places like Ayr and the Kelpies.

On Fri­day, March 31, John Casey from Burn­head Bowl­ing Club joined the group to hand them a cheque for £1200.

He or­gan­ised an af­ter­noon in the club with af­ter din­ner speak­ers John McKelvie Ex CID, John Ga­ha­gan, ex-Mother­well player, and lawyer Phil Co­p­land. The af­ter­noon was a great suc­cess. Siobahn Harkin from Cam­glen Bud­dies said:“We would like to thank An­gela Glancey, Kerry and Joe Docherty for help­ing on the day. Their kind do­na­tion means so much and we can’t thank them all enough for tak­ing the time to raise this money.”

The club is on ev­ery sec­ond Fri­day from 7-9pm. Siobahn added:“If you know any­one who would ben­e­fit from at­tend­ing our club then please give us a call on 07437 897637 .”
