Rutherglen Reformer - - News - Edel Kenealy

Rutherglen and Hamilton West MP Margaret Ferrier has been confirmed as the SNP candidate in the upcoming general election on June 8.

The announcement was made on Saturday following a meeting of the party’s national executive committee which ruled that Ms Ferrier was reselected with immediate effect.

Recently Ms Ferrier was named the top talking Scot at Westminster, having contributed to 173 different debates, question, and statement sessions in the House of Commons in 2016 – more than any other Scottish MP.

She said: “Representing Rutherglen and Hamilton West in London has been an enormous privilege, and I look forward to asking voters to once again place their trust in me so that I can continue my strong track record of holding the Tories to account at Westminster.

“I have been the strong voice that I promised during my 2015 election campaign – contributing more than any other Scottish MP at parliament – and a champion for the diverse and distinct communities across Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Halfway, Blantyre, and Hamilton West.”
