Buses set to replace Sunday train services
Engineering forces delays
Train passengers in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are set to be affected by engineering works over the next four Sundays.
Work taking place between Glasgow Central and Motherwell will lead to replacement buses and diversions.
Passengers travelling to or from Lanarkshire will see the biggest changes, although some services to and from Glasgow Central will also be affected.
Some services on the Newton line will also be extended.
Scotrail is warning people to plan ahead and check their journey on the Scotrail app or at www.scotrail.co.uk.
A ScotRail Alliance spokesman said: “These are vital works and we are doing everything we can to keep our customers moving during them. We appreciate their patience as we work to deliver a better railway for Scotland.”
The full list of affected services is:
Glasgow Central – Motherwell/Lanark, buses replace trains all day.
Motherwell to Milngavie (via Hamilton Central), buses replace trains between Hamilton Central and Motherwell, calling at Airbles.
Motherwell to Balloch (via Whifflet), buses replace trains between Whifflet and Motherwell.
Glasgow – Motherwell/ Lanark, trains are diverted, and will not call at Uddingston, Bellshill and Shieldmuir.
Replacement buses will run between Cambuslang and Wishaw, calling at Uddingston, Bellshill, Motherwell and Shieldmuir.
Glasgow Central – Motherwell, buses replace trains all day.
Glasgow Central – Lanark, trains are diverted via Cathcart, journey times may be extended.
Balloch – Larkhall, trains running between Balloch and Rutherglen, buses run between Bridgeton and Larkhall.
Milngavie – Motherwell, trains are diverted via Whifflet, buses run between Bridgeton and Motherwell via Hamilton.
Glasgow Central – Newton, trains at 36 minutes past the hour from Glasgow will be extended to Larkhall via Hamilton.
Trains at 09 minutes past the hour will start back from Larkhall and run to Glasgow via Hamilton.
