Rutherglen Reformer - - Ward 12 : Rutherglen C&N -

Green I work as a professional writer and have been an active member of the Scottish Greens for over ten years, serving the branch in a variety of roles and have both acted at election agent and stood in council elections.

For too long, local politics in South Lanarkshire has become stale with the turgid tug-of-war between Labour and the SNP. The people have been let down by broken promises about local tax reform and the scourge of PFI.

Consequently, the lack of real action by the established parties does not exactly fill us with hope when we are faced with the impending threat of issues such as fracking.

We have an opportunity to show how Green policies can reconnect communities with the politicians who are supposed to serve them and can help invigorate the local economy by supporting local businesses to create a greener, fairer Scotland.
