Liberal Democrats

Rutherglen Reformer - - Ward 14: Cambuslang East -

I attended the then Rutherglen Academy and Cathkin High School. I graduated from Strathclyde University with a joint honours degree in Economic History and Geography and qualified as a teacher at Hamilton College of Education.

I have taught at various schools, including a school in Malawi and later at Stonelaw High School (teaching geography, and travel and tourism) until 2014, and was chair of Halfmerke Primary School Board in East Kilbride.

I am now a volunteer guide at the David Livingstone Centre and the National Museum of Country Life.

Cambuslang East is the largest ward in South Lanarkshire by population and is continuing to grow with the new houses at Gilbert-field but Liberal Democrats have long argued that facilities lag badly behind.

It is time for a more integrated approach to managing growth – for nursery and school provision and community facilities.
