Strachan keepseye onKenny
Cambuslang man Kenny McLean looks set to play his way into the Scotland team for next month’s World Cup qualifier with England.
It is understood manager Gordon Strachan is growing increasingly concerned about the number of regulars in his squad who are mainly based in England’s Championship.
The manager is concerned they will have been idle for more than a month when the Group F table-toppers cross the border for the Battle of Britain clash on June 10.
He will now be closely monitoring the form of Aberdeen’s McLean, 25, and teammate Graeme Shinnie who will be playing competitive football up until May 27’s Scottish Cup final.
That could give one or both of the Pittodrie players an edge as Strachan prepares to pick his squad for yet another must-win qualifier.
McLean received his first cap in March 2016 in a friendly against the Czech Republic.
