This Satur­day sees the mixed pairs com­pe­ti­tion take place at Half­way and District.

Twenty-four teams will bat­tle it out for the hon­ours with the win­ners earn­ing the right to rep­re­sent the club in this year’s Bowls Scot­land Na­tional Mixed Pairs.

The first ex­ter­nal com­pe­ti­tion started this week with the RDBA Gilliland League kick­ing off on Tues­day night.

Half­way were away to Over­toun Park and next week’s op­po­nents are White­field at home.

The two-bowl pairs spon­sored by Cur­leys Butch­ers, will take place on Satur­day, May 13 with a 12pm start. Any­one still to put their name up for this com­pe­ti­tion should do so this week­end.

The McPike 1+1 pairs takes place on Sun­day, May 21 with a 10am start. Both of th­ese com­pe­ti­tions are open to ladies and gents. It has been a rel­a­tively quiet week at the White­field Club with the sea­son just about to spark into ac­tion.

The an­nual gents parish match against Cam­bus­lang will be held on Satur­day at Cam­bus­lang BC at 1.30pm for a 2pm start.

The club look for­ward to re­new­ing old ac­quain­tances in what is al­ways an ea­gerly an­tic­i­pated chal­lenge match.

The se­nior rep­re­sen­ta­tive games swung into ac­tion with the first week of the Cam­bus­lang and District League.

White­field played Cam­bus­lang in the two rink for­mat and hon­ours were even with one win to each team.

The gents ag­gre­gate win­ners were Peter Law and Michael O’Ha­gan who were 17 shots up.

The ladies ag­gre­gate is played to­day, Wed­nes­day, and, as with the gents, starts at 7pm prompt.

Last week’s win­ners were Mar­garet Fel­lows and Anne Grant.

The num­bers par­tic­i­pat­ing are a bit low at the mo­ment so any lady mem­ber wish­ing to play will be made more than wel­come. The Gilliland League’s first game was set to take place yes­ter­day, Tues­day, with Cam­bus­lang play­ing away to Toll­cross Bowl­ing Club.

The club’s sec­ond league game is against Kingswood on May 9.

In the Cam­bus­lang District Se­niors Rinks League, the club had two rinks at home against White­field where they we won one and lost one on April 26.

They play away to Tem­ple­ton BC to­day, Wed­nes­day, at 10.30am.

Mon­day points, May 1: John McKil­lop and Robert Park were four up.

This Satur­day Cam­bus­lang have their an­nual parish game at home against White­field, 2pm.
