Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

A Rutherglen woman is alleged to have locked herself in her car to avoid being arrested.

Angela Harvey is claimed to have been driving her vehicle along the town’s Main Street while using her mobile phone on June 26 last year.

The Castlefern Road resident is then said to have refused to produce her licence for two constables and locked her vehicle to prevent being apprehended.

The 45-year-old is alleged to have repeatedly pressed the accelerator and turned the steering wheel towards the direction of another officer.

Harvey, who denies the charges, was further charged with failing to give her name and address and also the name and address of the owner of the vehicle. She will return for trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court on May 25.
