Gil­bert­field house plans

A fur­ther 128 homes could be built off Gil­bert­field Road as a sec­ond de­vel­oper seeks to start work on the green­belt site.

Dundas Es­tates and Development Com­pany is seek­ing plan­ning per­mis­sion to build 47 homes on 2.01hectares of land sit­u­ated be­tween Gil­bert­field Road and Light­burn Road.

It rep­re­sents the fi­nal ap­pli­ca­tion which will com­plete the sec­ond phase of their Gil­bert­field View estate.

Phase one was com­pleted in 2012 when 61 homes were built.

The news comes just weeks after the con­tro­ver­sial Per­sim­mon Homes development for 386 homes was granted plan­ning per­mis­sion, de­spite more than 1,200 peo­ple sign­ing a pe­ti­tion protest­ing against it.

But Dundas ar­gues its development is sen­si­tive to the lo­cal land­scape.

Mike An­drews, line and development man­ager at Dundas, said: “We are hope­ful of se­cur­ing de­tailed plan­ning con­sent for phase two within the next two to three months and on that ba­sis we would com­mence build­ing work to­wards the end of this year.

“Sub­ject to plan­ning con­sent, the full ex­tent of phase two will be 128 homes. The project will take around three and a half years to build and sell. The homes on phase two will be very sim­i­lar to phase one, but with the ad­di­tion of a block of two bed flats and a block of cot­tage flats with gar­dens.

“Cam­bus­lang is a long es­tab­lished town with a good range of shops and com­mu­nity fa­cil­i­ties.

“The development is con­ve­niently sit­u­ated with good trans­port links – ac­cess to the M74 and M8 mo­tor­ways and reg­u­lar train ser­vices from New­ton Sta­tion.

“The lo­ca­tion also ben­e­fits from a quiet set­ting on the edge of the coun­try­side whilst still be­ing close to the wide range of shops, restau­rants and entertainment avail­able in Glas­gow City Cen­tre.”

Dundas is al­ready seek­ing notes of in­ter­est for the houses, with a press re­lease on its web­site stat­ing phase two will be launched in the next few months.

The pro­posal in­cludes a mix of two-storey de­tached and semi-de­tached houses rang­ing from three to five bed­rooms.

Heather Bir­rell, sales and mar­ket­ing man­ager says on the web­site: “Ev­ery­one that came to visit Gil­bert­field View told us how much they liked the choice of houses and the con­ve­nient lo­ca­tion.

“The next phase will be just as ex­cit­ing and will of­fer a sim­i­lar wide se­lec­tion of house types. There will be some­thing for ev­ery­one from grow­ing fam­i­lies to pro­fes­sional cou­ples. The time is right reg­is­ter your in­ter­est in this phase so that we can keep you fully in­formed of what’s on of­fer and how the site is de­vel­op­ing.”
