Drink driv­ers nabbed

Two driv­ers in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang are fac­ing bans and a crim­i­nal record after be­ing nabbed soz­zled be­hind the wheel within hours of each other.

The first in­ci­dent took place at 5.30pm on Satur­day, May 6 when a ve­hi­cle was spot­ted driv­ing in an erratic man­ner by cops on Lime­side Av­enue.

The 55-year-old fe­male driver was found to be over the limit and has been re­ported to the procu­ra­tor fis­cal.

Just two hours later of­fi­cers stopped a 35-year-old male on Green­lees Gar­dens in Cam­bus­lang.

He was also found to be in ex­cess of the le­gal limit and has also been re­ported to the Procu­ra­tor Fis­cal.

The pair were caught as the force revealed a crack­down on drink/drug driv­ing across the area.

Sta­tis­tics show road users in Scot­land are at their high­est risk of be­ing killed or se­ri­ously in­jured due to the driver be­ing un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol or drugs at this time of year.

Else­where over the week­end, a A 56-year-old man was due to ap­pear from cus­tody at Glas­gow Sheriff Court after al­legedly be­ing found in pos­ses­sion of a knife in a pub on Ruther­glen Main Street at around 8.30pm on Fri­day, May 5.
