Rutherglen Reformer - - Memory Lane -

There were fresh doubts that a new £11million hospital for Rutherglen would ever be built, after rising costs forced Greater Glasgow Health Board to review their plans.

A Rutherglen couple who had travelled to Cyprus to get married saw their dreams shattered after the authorities there would not accept one of the documents needed for the wedding as it was a photocopy.

The local improvements committee were told Rutherglen’s famous tree lined Main Street would have to undergo a major replanting if it was to survive.

Rutherglen and Cambuslang were to be at the vanguard of a new clean air campaign.

Falling attendance was poised to kill off Cathkin, Springhall and Whitlawburn Community Council.
