Five chal­lengers to Fer­rier

Six can­di­dates will go head-to-head in Ruther­glen and Hamil­ton West in the Gen­eral Elec­tion on June 8.

With can­di­dates de­clared and cam­paign­ing now un­der way, Mar­garet Fer­rier is de­fend­ing the seat for the SNP with Labour’s Ger­ard Killen likely to be her clos­est challenger.

Ann Le Blond is stand­ing for the Con­ser­va­tives while Robert Brown stands once again for the Lib­eral Democrats.

UKIP is also con­test­ing the seat, with Caro­line San­tos rep­re­sent­ing them.

The list is made up with in­de­pen­dent can­di­date Andy Dixon.

A mem­ber of Half­way Com­mu­nity Coun­cil, Mr Dixon said he is stand­ing be­cause he has“reached the con­clu­sion party pol­i­tics is a ma­jor ob­sta­cle when it comes to re­solv­ing the is­sues our com­mu­ni­ties face”.
