Driver’s on­trial for­chaos

A 28-year-old man is al­leged to have caused chaos in his ve­hi­cle while driv­ing on a road in Ruther­glen without proper van in­sur­ance.

James Don­lon of King’s Park Av­enue, is claimed to have col­lided with a ve­hi­cle and caused the driver and pas­sen­ger in­jury whilst al­leged to have been un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol on June 25, 2016.

He was charged with en­ter­ing a lane on Fern­hill Road and driv­ing ag­gres­sively at un­safe dis­tances while flash­ing his lights at the driver in front of him.

Don­lon, who was be­lieved to have been on bail at the time of the in­ci­dent, is also al­leged to have had 96 mi­cro­grammes of al­co­hol in 100 millil­itres of breath. This ex­ceeded the limit of 22 mi­cro­grammes in 100 millil­itres of breath.

He is due to ap­pear at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on May 25 for trial.
