A Rutherglen care home is hosting a dementia support café for Dementia Awareness Week and is inviting members of the local community to join them.

Bupa’s Rodgerpark Care Home, on Rodger Drive, is welcoming locals on Tuesday, May 16 from 2-4pm for coffee, cake and conversation.

The afternoon offers a comfortable space for those who want to meet, chat and share with others whose lives have been affected by dementia over coffee and a cake.

Dementia care specialists and Bupa’s Admiral nurses will also be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.

Sandra Mackay, resident experience manager at Bupa’s Rodgerpark Care Home, said:“Giving our residents and visitors this time in which they can share their experiences and stories with each other is invaluable and something which we’ve found to be hugely beneficial for everyone involved.”

Those interested can call 0141 530 3964 for further information, or turn up on the day.

Dementia Awareness Week runs from May 15-21.
