A youth football team brought home the silverware to Toryglen after winning a tournament in Blackpool.

The Celtic Juniors 2005 side travelled south for the competition to eventually lift the trophy after their goalkeeper netted the final spot-kick in a penalty shoot-out.

The team, who play in the Glasgow leagues and train at Saint Brigid’s Primary School in Toryglen, won three of their five group games to qualify for the semi-final.

Following a 2-0 victory in the last four, Celtic found themselves in the final where they scored a late winner with two minutes remaining to send the game to penalties.

And it was the goalkeeper who stepped up to slot away the finalkick – straight through the keeper’s legs.

The team thanked Rutherglen business DLG Auto services for their support, particularly John McLachlan for hiring the mini bus to travel to Blackpool and helping build team sirit.
