Man charged with hav­ing blade at door

A Castlemilk woman has been ac­cused of kick­ing a man on the head and body at Ruther­glen Main Street.

Teresa McConville, 51, is due to ap­pear at court on June 6, for the in­ci­dent which is claimed to have taken place on April 26, 2015.

The Stra­vanan Gar­dens res­i­dent was on bail at the time of the al­leged as­sault. A To­ry­glen man an­swered the door to po­lice of­fi­cers while in pos­ses­sion of a knife, a court heard.

John Duffy was charged with re­peat­edly shout­ing and swear­ing and also at­tend­ing the front door of his home with the weapon at Cur­tis Av­enue on July 29, 2016.

He is due to stand trial for the of­fence at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on June 6. A drink driver from Ruther­glen has been dis­qual­i­fied and fined.

Richard Austin, of Buck­ing­ham Drive, ad­mit­ted to driv­ing on West­burn Drive while four times the le­gal al­co­hol limit.

The 34-year-old had 87 mi­cro­grammes of al­co­hol in 100 millil­itres of breath when he was tested by po­lice on April 4. The le­gal limit is 22.

Austin had his guilty plea ac­cepted when he ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court last month and was fined £575 and dis­qual­i­fied from driv­ing for 16 months.
