Train services on the Newton line through Rutherglen and Cambuslang are expected to be extremely busy this Saturday when the Scottish Cup Final takes place.

Celtic face Aberdeen in the showpiece game at Hampden and ScotRail are advising people to plan ahead if making a journey.

Roads in Rutherglen, King’s Park and Toryglen will also be extremely busy as 50,000 fans descend on the national stadium.

Extra trains and additional carriages will be made available on the day.

The Newton line calls at Mount Florida and King’s Park, which both serve Hampden. Journeys to Croftfoot, Burnside, Kirkhill and Newton will also be affected.

To allow for additional services to run to and from the game, many trains using the high level stations will depart from a different platform than usual, and may also arrive or depart at slightly different times.

A ScotRail Alliance spokesperson said:“Don’t score an own goal, leave plenty of time to get to the game.

“Extra staff will be around to help – please follow their instructions to ensure that everything goes smoothly.”

“The last trains of the night are going to be very busy, too – so please plan to catch an earlier one.”
