Cambuslang Main Street will be awash with summer blooms next week when the town’s Big Plant Out gets under way.

A Cambuslang in Bloom initiative, the event will see a mass planting of flowers along the Main Street and aims to encourage more people to use the local shops, cafes and businesses.

The group, an arm of Cambuslang Community Council, has a cache of flowers to plant in 30 hanging baskets, 24 barrier baskets and 15 large street planters.

Volunteers of all ages and abilities are being sought to help out this Saturday, June 3.

Linda Wallace, chairwoman of Cambuslang in Bloom, said: “We have had a great start to the year raising over £900 funding for the new season’s plants.

“The volunteers are looking forward to Saturday’s big plant out when we’ll add some bright new bedding plants. It will be a great day and all are welcome to join in and help.”

Willing volunteers can contact Linda by emailing cambuslangbloom@aol.com or calling 07972 558227.
