Young Cambuslang club boxer Chloe Bodwick has done more than enough to make her late papa proud after being selected for Scotland at the GB Three Nations Championships this weekend.

Chloe, 13, of O’Neils BC, will take part in the event at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on June 3 and 4, and mum Donna says she’s already making the whole family immensely proud. She said:“Chloe is doing really well, has been in at Boxing Scotland and I’m delighted – I’m very proud and chuffed for her.

“She has worked so hard for it and is entitled to the success she is having.

“This is the first time she has been selected for Scotland at this level and she is doing a lot more for her country.

“Chloe has been boxing for just over a year. She took it up just after her papa Pat passed away and she wanted to make him proud – she has certainly done that.

“Pat was a boxer and it kind of runs in the family. Chloe has been coached at O’Neill’s Gym by Brian Murphy, Andy Clayton, Scott McGregor, Paul Anderson and Danny McMurray and she has taken to it very well.

“She’s very dedicated, is away running every morning, and there’s no stopping her.”

Coach Brian added: “She is the current Scottish Champion and she’s been going from strength to strength.

“It has been hard to match her lately to someone of a similar weight but she’s been working really hard.”
