Durie’s man is back

Rutherglen boxing club Durie’s BC had two fighters in the ring this week including a teen who had not fought competitively for eight months.

Sixteen-year-old Nathan Basil from Castlemilk was preparing for his first bout since September at the Springhill ABC show in Wishaw on Friday.

And the young boxer did not waste anytime stamping his authority as he pressed forward, rolling his smaller powerful, body and hooking shots to the head of opponent Eddie Osbourne.

He forced the ref to give a standing eight count in the first two rounds and the bout was stopped late in the third.

Next in was another Castlemilk lad Kyle McGee, 65kg, who was jostled and held by Robbie Duffy.

Kyle landed the cleaner punches but the Springhill boxer took the fight. Kyle was also in action, May 19, in Grangemouth and won.
