Bob’s bid to be Hampden hero
A Cambuslang man is part of a group of Scotland supporters who are undertaking a charity bike ride from Wembley Stadium to Hampden Park.
Bob Smith, of Dukes Road, and the keen cyclists set off from London yesterday, Tuesday, and are expected to arrive at the national stadium just before the Scotland v England game on Saturday, June 10.
Sponsors including Tesco on Dalmarnock Road, Rutherglen and Vauxhall/ Arnold Clark have lent their support to the group who are raising money for the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal. They have so far raised an incredible £10,000.
The group also plan to cycle to Tesco and ride around the car park for the store’s Tartan Day on June 10 to thank them for their support.
The riders include Andrew Cook, Charles Pettie, Danny Letdord, Dougie Wotherspoon, Jock Dearie, Natalie Sharp, Stephen Thomson and Tom Dearie.
The support drivers are Bob and Linda Lowery.
Heather Bryson has provided them with nutritional requirements for the journey as well as giving them gift cards towards fuel for their support vehicles and to get more supplies on route.
