Bob’s bid to be Ham­p­den hero

A Cam­bus­lang man is part of a group of Scot­land sup­port­ers who are un­der­tak­ing a char­ity bike ride from Wem­b­ley Sta­dium to Ham­p­den Park.

Bob Smith, of Dukes Road, and the keen cy­clists set off from Lon­don yes­ter­day, Tues­day, and are ex­pected to ar­rive at the na­tional sta­dium just be­fore the Scot­land v Eng­land game on Satur­day, June 10.

Spon­sors in­clud­ing Tesco on Dal­marnock Road, Ruther­glen and Vaux­hall/ Arnold Clark have lent their sup­port to the group who are rais­ing money for the Tar­tan Army Sun­shine Ap­peal. They have so far raised an in­cred­i­ble £10,000.

The group also plan to cy­cle to Tesco and ride around the car park for the store’s Tar­tan Day on June 10 to thank them for their sup­port.

The rid­ers in­clude Andrew Cook, Charles Pet­tie, Danny Let­dord, Dougie Wother­spoon, Jock Dearie, Natalie Sharp, Stephen Thom­son and Tom Dearie.

The sup­port driv­ers are Bob and Linda Low­ery.

Heather Bryson has pro­vided them with nu­tri­tional re­quire­ments for the jour­ney as well as giv­ing them gift cards to­wards fuel for their sup­port ve­hi­cles and to get more sup­plies on route.
