Rutherglen Reformer - - Joint Effort - Edel Kenealy

Rutherglen pupils will have a tea-tastic time this week when they show off their entrepreneurial skills with a pop-up shop in the town.

Students at Bankhead Primary School will open their shop in Rutherglen Exchange on Friday, June 9.

The venture is part of a Young Enterprise Scotland initiative dubbed the High Street Challenge.

Children in primaries four to seven were tasked with generating ideas for a one-day pop up shop.

Pupils had to consider the needs of their community, the strengths and weaknesses of their business, start-up costs and potential profit.

The ideas for a potential pop-up shop were presented in school and after careful consideration, the winning class was primary 4/5.

The class, alongside their teacher Mrs Michelle Disley, are currently arranging all items to get‘Bankhead Tea-tastic’up and running.

Open from 10am to 2.30pm in unit 34 at Rutherglen Exchange, the tearoom will see every child in the class perform a role in running the business.

This includes serving tables, taking orders and taking customers’ payments.

It is hoped Ruglonians will show support for the new venture while enjoying refreshments.
