Food bank needs man­ager

A volunteer is be­ing sought to run a life­line ser­vice that stops lo­calpeo­ple go­ing hun­gry.

Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang Foodbank is seek­ing a man­ager to en­sure food is ef­fi­ciently col­lected and dis­trib­uted at the char­ity’s three out­lets.

The post will take up ap­prox­i­mately 12 hours per week.

The man­ager has to work with the vol­un­teers, in­clud­ing duty man­agers and sup­port work­ers, to en­sure the smooth day-to-day run­ning of the food banks in Ruther­glen, Cam­bus­lang and Whit­law­burn.

They would be re­quired to be­come a mem­ber of the food bank com­mit­tee, con­tribut­ing to its longer-term goals, and to rep­re­sent the food bank in the com­mu­ni­ties.

Ar­rang­ing food drives at local su­per­mar­kets and other events to keep ware­house stocks at a func­tional level is an­other key task, as is ar­rang­ing train­ing for vol­un­teers.

The man­ager will also have to li­aise with food bank re­fer­rals, churches, South La­nark­shire Coun­cil and other con­tribut­ing par­ties.
