Food bank needs manager
A volunteer is being sought to run a lifeline service that stops localpeople going hungry.
Rutherglen and Cambuslang Foodbank is seeking a manager to ensure food is efficiently collected and distributed at the charity’s three outlets.
The post will take up approximately 12 hours per week.
The manager has to work with the volunteers, including duty managers and support workers, to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the food banks in Rutherglen, Cambuslang and Whitlawburn.
They would be required to become a member of the food bank committee, contributing to its longer-term goals, and to represent the food bank in the communities.
Arranging food drives at local supermarkets and other events to keep warehouse stocks at a functional level is another key task, as is arranging training for volunteers.
The manager will also have to liaise with food bank referrals, churches, South Lanarkshire Council and other contributing parties.
