SNP refuse to used evolved powers
I am surprised the SNP manifesto now says it wants an additional rate of income tax of 50p throughout the UK from 2018/19.
It is surprising because the Scottish Government has refused to introduce a 50p rate in Scotland despite having the devolved powers to do so for some time.
Indeed at one stage Ms Sturgeon described a 50p rate of tax as laughable.
This demonstrates not only a failure to use the devolved powers to protect the people of Scotland from Tory austerity cuts, but a party in complete disarray on a key policy issue.
Scotland needs MPs at Westminster who are clear in their support for a progressive tax system to protect public services, not MPs who represent a party that has not had the commitment to actually implement it.
