News in brief from the local churches
Tickets are £2.50 or £1.50 for anyone under 16. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 2.30pm. Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. Stonelaw Church holds 30-minute services in the Meeting Place on the first Wednesday of every month at 2pm. The St Bride’s Bible study group meet every Thursday night at the St Bride’s Parish House at 7pm, all welcome.
A men’s shed has started up in Rutherglen Baptist Community Church.
The objective of men’s shed is to give men who have time on their hands a place to meet.
A workshop area will be built at one end of the hall, with a relaxation area available to sit and chat and put the world to rights over a cup of tea.
To be part of this project call in any Thursday between 10am and 4pm to the upstairs hall or call Ron Taylor on 07821137069 for more information.
Rutherglen Baptist Community Church have also now started having Messy Church services one Saturday in each month. Refresh is a new venture at Croftfoot Parish Church. Running every Friday from 2-4pm, Refresh will have a number of activities for people to participate in, from hand massage to playing pool, and with opportunities to receive spiritual readings and prayer for any need. Tea and coffee will be served. Everything is free of charge and all are most welcome. St Columbkille’s Church is offering a chance to have a cuppa every day of the week after 10am mass. There will be a hot cup of tea or coffee and roll with bacon or sausage. All proceeds will go towards keeping the church hall functioning.
The church are also appealing for volunteers to contribute some time on Thursday mornings to clean the church.
For a trial period this will happen weekly after 10.00am Mass on Thursdays.
A ladies night will be held in aid of Sister Anne McAllister’s mission in Kenya on Friday, June 16 in St Columbkille’s hall from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Tickets are £5. The church will also host a Classrooms for Malawi Celebrate Summer fundraiser on Saturday June 24 from 7.30pm until midnight.
The event will be held in St Columbkille’s Church Hall and will include a quiz.
Tickets are £5 on the door.
