Manager won’t compare this team with Scottish Cup heroes

Willie Harvey refused to compare his current team with the side that reached the last four of the Scottish Cup back in 2013.

Glens also went close to promotion that year, and Harvey reckons both teams have their merits.

“They were different teams,” he said.

“The Scottish Cup team were a very experienced, hard-working team.

“This team is younger and maybe a better footballing team. They move the ball a bit quicker.

“Both teams had great qualities and I wouldn’t like to pick one as being better than the other.”

While Glens’ league form was fantastic last season, they did not do so well in the cups, with a quarter-final appearance in the sectional league cup their best effort.

“We went out early, “Willie said. “But that was when we were still adjusting as a team.

“In the sectional, Pollok beat us 3-1, but they scored in the last minute in a game we dominated for a long time.

“The cups probably came to early for us. But they let us see the areas we needed to improve.”
