Local people ponder summer holiday plans
Should we stay... or should we go?
Locals have been debating whether to get the sun cream out the cupboard or pull on the waterproofs as the nation was hit with a mixture of warm and horrendous weather this month.
The people of Rutherglen and Cambuslang have experienced highs of 28C in recent weeks, but have also had the umbrellas up to take cover from torrential rain.
So the Reformer took to the streets to ask shoppers about their summer plans.
Christine Milne from Kings Park said: “I’m staying at home because I just don’t feel like going away.
“I have a wee dog so I will potter about with him and spend time in the garden.”
Southhill Avenue, Rutherglen, resident and golf fan Rina Duff is planning on going on two holidays this year.
She said: “We are going to Majorca and Portugal. We are going to play a bit of golf over there [in Portugal]. And I’ve just bought the tickets for the family to go to Majorca.”
John Kerr from Rutherglen was also heading to sunny Spain. “We’re all going to Malaga,” he said. “I’ve been there before. But we’re staying in the old town this time and it’s lovely.”
Michael Fuller, of Stonelaw Drive, Rutherglen, added: “We’ve been having some great weather here so I will be spending some time with the grandchildren. We enjoy the Highland games events and culture shows so there is enough to keep us occupied.”
