A spe­cial event to cel­e­brate com­mu­nity, fun, friend­ship and Fa­ther’s Day is be­ing held in Over­toun Park on Sun­day.

Dubbed the Big Lunch, the event - or­gan­ised by Grow 73 - en­cour­ages peo­ple to come to­gether to eat and share food in a com­mu­nity space.

There will be ac­tiv­i­ties for chil­dren in­clud­ing a sto­ry­telling ses­sion from Amanda Ed­min­ston from Botan­ica Fab­ula, an arts and crafts ses­sion and seed bomb mak­ing.

There will also be live mu­sic from the Mairs Fam­ily Band.

The Big Lunch is a sim­ple idea from the Eden Pro­ject. Its aim is to get as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neigh­bours and/ or the wider com­mu­nity an­nu­ally on a Sun­day in June in a sim­ple act of com­mu­nity, friend­ship and fun.

Peo­ple tak­ing part are asked to bring their own lunch, food to share if they want to, ta­ble and chairs, or a pic­nic blan­ket if pos­si­ble; or­gan­is­ers will have a limited num­ber of ta­bles and chairs avail­able.

The free event gets un­der­way at 1pm weather per­mit­ting.
