Rutherglen Reformer - - Memory Lane -

A Rutherglen housing scheme was set to become a public transport desert as the bulk of Farme Cross was set to be without a bus service, sparking a furious backlash from dozens of local residents.

Rutherglen tenants told Glasgow District Council’s sub-committee that housing waiting lists could take no more priority moves.

Work was to start at the end of the month on Rutherglen’s £250,000 sports park – three months later than planned.

Hundreds of mothers who were eager to join adult education programmes at Cathkin High were effectively barred because there were no crèche facilities at the school.

A campaign to site Castlemilk’s new sports centre on the Barlia football pitches had stalled.
