New tal­ent search is on with £3500 up for grabs

One of the most fiercely con­tested com­pe­ti­tions in La­nark­shire is com­ing back.

The Com­mer­cial Ho­tel’s fa­mous Wishaw’s Got Tal­ent con­test be­gins on July 7. There will be a packed 11 weeks where the panel will whit­tle down the num­bers to the grand fi­nale on Septem­ber 22 at the ho­tel on Main Street. Ex­pect a lot of drama and tears as the com­pe­ti­tion heats up. Wishaw has got bags of tal­ent, and The Com­mer­cial Ho­tel are urg­ing peo­ple to brush up their skills, whether it’s singing, danc­ing, telling jokes, hu­la­hoop­ing, play­ing the spoons, or cre­at­ing a bit of magic.

With the prize money stand­ing at a whoop­ing £3500 – you could be do­ing a dis­ap­pear­ing act with all that cash.

This year is also an ex­tra spe­cial one for The Com­mer­cial Ho­tel as it’s get­ting ready to cel­e­brate its 10th birth­day, and in cel­e­bra­tion of this mo­men­tous year, the win­ning pot is the high­est it’s ever been.

Adele Mont­gomery, man­ager of The Com­mer­cial Ho­tel , said she is look­ing for­ward to wel­com­ing the pop­u­lar com­pe­ti­tion back to the town.

She said: “Our pun­ters seem to love a con­test and each event we’ve put on seems to be more pop­u­lar than the other. Th­ese events cre­ate a real buzz and a great at­mo­sphere for our cus­tomers. We all love be­ing part of it. “Over the years we’ve saw some amaz­ing tal­ent grace our stages and I hope we see the same again this year.

“We’ve got a huge amount of money to give away so I would urge peo­ple to come out and take part.

All you need to do is im­press the judges and you could be walk­ing away thou­sands of pounds richer.”

In 2015, The Com­mer­cial Ho­tel staged their very own X Fac­tor con­test and gave away a whop­ping £3500 to tal­ented fi­nal­ists.

Wishaw duo Dan and Lynn were crowned win­ners and walked away with £1500 af­ter they wowed the crowds with a show-stop­ping per­for­mance.

Run­ners-up were Amanda Bogle, who was awarded £500, and Ryan Hardie, who won £250. There was also prize money for the win­ners of the heats.
